Simple Search Mode

Simple Mode searches for results containing the words related to one or all of your search terms in the article title or anywhere of the article as your specified.

Complex Search Mode

Complex Mode used to search articles containing terms for precise or fuzzy (less precise) matches to single words and phrases, or the proximity of words within a certain distance of one another. Complex Mode can search for:

Automatic "And" Queries

By default, Complex Mode only returns articles that include all of your search terms. There is same and no need to include "and" between terms. Keep in mind that the order in which the terms are typed will NOT affect the search results. To restrict a search further, just include more terms.

Samples: Search Engine Optimization
Statistical Quality Control
Phrase Searches

Sometimes you'll only want results that include an exact phrase. In this case, simply put quotation marks around your search terms.

Samples: "Pirates of the Caribbean"
"National Hurricane Center"
Negative Terms Search

If your search term has more than one meaning you can focus your search by putting AND NOT in front of words related to the meaning you want to avoid.

Samples: "World Cup" And Not Football
Windows And Apple And Not Unix
Alternative Terms Search

If your want to search the result include at least one of your term, you can put OR between the different words or Phrases.

Samples: "Steak Recipe" Or "Pizza Recipe"
UFC Or WWE
Wildcard Terms Search

Specifies a match of words or phrases beginning with the specified text. Enclose a prefix term in double quotation marks ("") and add an asterisk (*) before the ending quotation mark, so that all text starting with the simple term specified before the asterisk is matched.

Samples: Choc* Cake
"Increase Page*"
Proximity Terms Search

Put NEAR between the words or phrases to indicate one must be close to one another. NEAR operates similarly to the AND operator: both require that more than one word or phrase exist in the column being searched. As the words in NEAR appear closer together, the better the match.

NEAR indicates that the word or phrase on the left side of the NEAR operator should be approximately close to the word or phrase on the right side of the NEAR operator. Multiple proximity terms can be chained.

Samples: Israel Near Lebanon Near Syria
Spread Near Strawberry
